A new generation Class40 for Alexis Loison 2026

After an exceptional 2025 season, highlighted by his resounding victory in the Solitaire du Figaro Paprec, Alexis Loison is embarking on a new challenge: the construction of a state-of-the-art Class40. Designed by Marc Lombard Yacht Design and assembled at the Neo Sailing Technologies shipyard, this Lift-3 boat will be launched in May 2026, before embarking on its first sailings and major competitions of the season.

An intense 2026 season for Alexis Loison and REEL

From the moment it is launched, the Class40 Groupe REEL will enter a phase of intensive testing, notably at the Finistère Offshore Racing Center in Port-La-Forêt. Alexis Loison will then take on the first events of his 2026 season: the Round Ireland Race with a crew on June 20, the Drheam Cup solo race in July, and then the 40 Malouine in September.

All these races will serve as preparation for his main objective: the Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe, which will start on November 1st. For Alexis, this legendary transatlantic race represents a long-held dream and a major milestone in his career.

The President of the REEL Group, Philippe Frantz, emphasizes that this new project comes at a symbolic moment for the company, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary. He recalls how innovation, technical precision, and human commitment—founding values of REEL—find a natural echo in Alexis Loison’s career and his ability to reinvent himself with each challenge.

A long-term collaboration

With this latest-generation Class40, Alexis Loison and the REEL Group are embarking on a new chapter together. The Norman skipper will be able to draw on his solid experience in offshore racing—Figaro, Class40, transatlantic races—to tackle a short but particularly intense season. From the launch to the first sails, each stage will be an opportunity to fine-tune the boat and reinforce the high standards that have united REEL and its skipper for several years.
